On Sunday, February 23, 2025, Agincourt Resources participated in the opening of the lubuk larangan (restricted fishing area) in Hapesong Lama Village, Batang Toru. This initiative is part of a long-standing effort to conserve water resources while empowering local communities. The river flowing through the residential area has been transformed into an Aquatic Conservation Area (KKP), harmonizing economic benefits with environmental preservation.
The management of the lubuk larangan in Hapesong Lama Village has generated a significant source of Village-Owned Revenue (Pendapatan Asli Desa or PADes), amounting to millions of rupiah annually. Additionally, the Pancing Mania fishing competition, held twice a year, has contributed significantly to local income. In January 2025, the competition attracted around 200 participants, generating IDR 16.5 million. On February 22, 2025, a similar event with 74 participants raised IDR 5.92 million, bringing the total revenue from both events to IDR 21.97 million.

Agincourt Resources’ Superintendent of Community Relations, Sugeng Maskat, stated that the proceeds from Pancing Mania are used to support social needs and community empowerment programs in Hapesong Lama Village. This initiative not only provides economic benefits but also serves as an educational platform for the younger generation. “Beyond preserving the aquatic ecosystem, this activity aims to guide and educate young people to create meaningful contributions that benefit the wider community,” he said.
The Head of the Fisheries Production Division of South Tapanuli Fisheries Office, Mansyardin, expressed his appreciation for Agincourt Resources’ support of lubuk larangan initiatives in Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru. He hopes that local fish farming, particularly of jurung fish, will become more sustainable through this traditional conservation practice. “I commend Agincourt Resources and Hapesong Lama Village for organizing this lubuk larangan harvest. The more lubuk larangan we establish, the better the fisheries sector in South Tapanuli will thrive, especially in sustaining local fish species like jurung,” he stated.
