Agincourt Resources has been awarded the prestigious Sandya Praditya Award for its significant contribution to literacy collaboration. The award was presented by the Acting Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. E. Aminudin Aziz, M.A., Ph.D., on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the National Library Auditorium in Central Jakarta. The award was received by Yayan Nuryawan, Superintendent of Community Services at Agincourt Resources, in recognition of the company’s active participation in the Reading Interest Cultivation Movement (Gerakan Pembudayaan Minat Baca/GPMB).
“Among 208 countries, Indonesia ranks 100th with a literacy rate of 95.44%. This position is still behind other Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore. Libraries must innovate or risk losing their readers. Many libraries have been built in remote areas, but the number of visitors is low because they are not attractive enough. Libraries in these areas often close,” stated Prof. E. Aminudin Aziz, Acting Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia.

This award is a form of recognition for Agincourt Resources’ efforts, including the establishment of 14 Children’s Reading Parks (Taman Baca Anak/TBA) in Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru Districts. In addition, Agincourt Resources actively provides educational resources to support the GPMB program.
The establishment of these TBAs is a concrete step in fostering a love for reading from an early age. By providing comfortable spaces and a diverse collection of books, the TBAs are expected to become centers of learning and personal development for children.
