As part of its ongoing commitment to improving community health, Agincourt Resources, in collaboration with PT Orica Mining Services, the South Tapanuli Regency Health Office, and Batang Toru Community Health Center (Puskesmas), implemented an Integrated Tuberculosis (TB) Early Detection Program. This initiative was integrated into the activities of the Integrated Development Post for Non-Communicable Diseases (Posbindu PTM). The program was conducted on 9, 10, and 14 May 2025 in Wek IV Village, Sisipa Village, and Wek II Sub-district, reaching a total of 640 residents across 16 villages and sub-districts in six sub-regencies: Batang Toru, Muara Batang Toru, West Angkola, Marancar, East Angkola, and South Angkola.
The program aims to accelerate TB elimination through a community-based approach using sputum screening, specifically targeting individuals aged 15 years and above. Each village or sub-district was tasked with collecting 40 sputum samples, which were then examined by TB officers from the Health Office. As of mid-May, 101 samples had been collected and were being processed for early diagnosis and effective interruption of TB transmission.
The activity was attended by the Chairperson of the South Tapanuli Regency Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP PKK), Murni Gus Irawan Pasaribu, and Batang Toru Sub-regency Head, Maratinggi Siregar. From the Health Office, the Head of the Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Section, Emilda, was present, along with program staff Nova Yosanti, Afni Darmayunita, Edy Sujoko, and Syah Putra. Health Office representatives also conducted public education sessions on TB prevention and the importance of regular check-ups, particularly for individuals in the productive age group.
Agincourt Resources’ Superintendent of Community Services, Yayan Nuryawan, emphasized that the initiative is a concrete reflection of the company’s responsibility toward the well-being of communities surrounding the mine. “We are committed to fostering collective awareness of the importance of early TB detection. Through a human-centered and educational approach, we encourage communities to take greater ownership of their personal and environmental health,” stated Yayan.
Through this integrated program, Agincourt Resources is actively contributing to the development of healthier, more informed, and proactive communities in the fight against infectious diseases.
