Batang Toru, 4 December 2025 – Since the beginning of the emergency response period, PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) has moved swiftly on the ground, focusing on the two most urgent priorities: the safety of residents and restoring access. Within the first 72 hours, PTAR deployed its Emergency Response Team (ERT) for evacuation, distributing emergency aid, and ensuring smooth operations at shelters, including ready-to-eat meals, clean water, and healthcare services. PTAR also helped reopen roads blocked by landslides and delivered logistics to areas still isolated, in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
Senior Manager of Corporate Communications at PT Agincourt Resources, Katarina Siburian Hardono, stated that from the first day of the disaster on November 25, 2025, until now, the company has focused on prioritizing residents’ safety, meeting survivors’ basic needs, and maintaining access to healthcare services. PTAR’s support has reached more than 3,000 residents, with daily distribution of food and basic necessities at the evacuation shelters to ensure survivors’ needs are met throughout their stay.
“We have deployed resources to accelerate evacuation and ensure the basic needs of survivors are met, including healthcare support amid challenging shelter conditions. Our focus is on the two most urgent priorities: residents’ safety and restoring access so that aid can reach the community as quickly as possible. We will continue to be on the ground alongside local authorities throughout the emergency response period and adjust support according to needs. The safety and recovery of communities in Garoga Village, Huta Godang, and Aek Ngadol Sitinjak in South Tapanuli Regency remain our priority,” she said.
The South Tapanuli Regency Government has declared a 14-day emergency response status for the flood and landslide disaster, effective from November 25, 2025.
Currently, survivors are accommodated in seven evacuation shelters: Batu Hula Village, Sumuran Village, Sopo Daganak in Napa Village, Balai Marguna in the Batang Toru Subdistrict Office Complex, the Multipurpose Hall of HKBP Church in Wek II Pasar Batang Toru, Batang Toru Subdistrict Health Center, and Garoga Village. PTAR has centralized logistics support from safe locations outside the directly affected area to ensure faster, safer, and well-coordinated aid distribution.
At these shelters, PTAR also provided temporary housing facilities, communal kitchens, ready-to-eat meals, clean water, and healthcare services through medical staff and supplies. The spirit of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) has emerged strongly. In addition to PTAR employees, hundreds of local residents have volunteered. A total of 305 volunteers assisted in shelter operations, from cooking and distributing logistics to helping services for the elderly, women, and children.
“We organize logistics support under a single coordination command to ensure aid is delivered accurately and continuously. This strengthens synergy with local authorities, law enforcement, and volunteers, while ensuring implementation is measurable and accountable,” added Katarina.
Beyond supporting shelter residents, PTAR has helped reopen roads blocked by landslide debris by deploying ten excavators and backhoe loaders. In areas that remain isolated with impassable ground routes, PTAR’s helicopter support has been crucial for delivering emergency supplies to locations cut off by landslides and floods, ensuring that aid continues to reach residents despite limited land access.
On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, PTAR accompanied the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, on a field visit to the areas affected by floods and landslides in Garoga Village, South Tapanuli. During the visit, PTAR reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and compliance by supporting the Ministry’s inspection in accordance with its authority regarding permits and the implementation of good mining practices.
PTAR stated its readiness to provide all necessary data and information and to support government measures to evaluate and supervise mining activities.
“We are open and cooperative with the government’s verification and oversight processes. We are ready to provide the required data and information and fully support every step of supervision in accordance with regulations,” said Katarina.
PTAR emphasized that it will continue to strengthen coordination with the South Tapanuli Regency Government, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI)/Police (Polri), and other relevant agencies to ensure that disaster response and recovery efforts are carried out in a structured manner. The company hopes that these support measures can ease residents’ burdens and accelerate the restoration of social and economic life in the affected areas.
