Agincourt Resources, in collaboration with PT Orica Mining Services Indonesia, the South Tapanuli District Library and Archives Agency, and the National Library of Indonesia
(Perpusnas), held a handover ceremony for digital library computers and children’s reading books on Tuesday, July 31st – 2025, at Sopo Daganak, Napa Village, Batang Toru District. The initiative aims to foster children’s interest in reading and introducing digital literacy through quality reading materials and technological access.
PT Orica Mining Services Indonesia contributed 18 desktop computers, 2 laptops, 10 modems, along with 20 desks and 20 chairs to support digital library operations in eight Children’s Reading Gardens (TBA) and Sopo Daganak. Meanwhile, Perpusnas, through the South Tapanuli Library and Archives Agency, donated 13,000 children’s books to be distributed across 13 TBAs in Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru districts.
The event also included a visit to the “Go to Reading” Children’s Reading Garden in Aek Pining Subdistrict, showcasing appreciation for the community’s dedication to literacy. This reading garden exemplifies the impactful collaboration between the private sector, government, and local communities in cultivating a strong reading culture.
Senior Manager of Community Agincourt Resources, Christine Pepah, highlighted that digital libraries can be a powerful catalyst for improving children’s reading interest. “This support enables children not only to read more efficiently but also to become familiar with accessing information through technology,” she noted.
Territory Manager of Specialty Mining Chemicals, Asia PT Orica Mining Services Indonesia, Reza Rinaldi, reaffirmed the company’s social commitment to supporting sustainable basic education. “We hope these digital tools will serve as a bridge toward digital literacy transformation, especially in rural areas,” he expressed during the signing ceremony.
