Cross-sector collaboration in developing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Batang Toru received recognition during the field verification stage of the Subroto Award 2025. The Bagas Silua programme has become a tangible example of how communities, government, and companies can grow together through sustainable local economic empowerment.
From 8th to 10th September 2025, the judging panel from LPEM UI and the Directorate of Mineral Business Development, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, conducted on-site assessments of SMEs fostered by Agincourt Resources. The visits included food producers and batik artisans representing 32 SMEs across Batang Toru District. A discussion session was also held at Bagas Silua to gain insights into business conditions, financial records, and the challenges faced by entrepreneurs.
The proactive attitude and openness of Batang Toru’s communities earned high praise from the judges. They highlighted the perseverance of SME owners who actively participated in training and consistently sought to grow their businesses as a key factor in enhancing competitiveness. For the entrepreneurs themselves, the judging was a valuable opportunity to showcase their products directly to the panel and stakeholders.
Agincourt Resources also received constructive feedback on marketing strategies and product development to help SMEs become more competitive. With continuous mentoring, the growth potential of local enterprises is expected to expand further, creating broader impact for communities.
