Students of SMK Negeri 1 Batang Toru Learn Fire Prevention and Control

In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of safety, Agincourt Resources, through its Martabe Goes to School program, conducted a fire prevention and handling education session at SMK Negeri 1 Batang Toru on Friday, September 6, 2024. The event was attended by 10 teachers and 90 students. 

Misnan Winata, Supervisor of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), served as the resource person for this activity. Participants were taught about the fire triangle, which consists of heat, fuel, and oxygen, as well as effective methods to eliminate one of these elements to extinguish fires. Additionally, they received explanations about fire classification, which covers various types of fires and appropriate extinguishing methods for each classification. 

Other materials presented included the phenomenon of fires, providing an understanding of how fires can develop and how to handle them. The basic principles of fire extinguishing were also discussed, including techniques that can be used in emergency situations. Furthermore, participants learned about various types of portable fire extinguishers (APAR), including their definitions, types, and the correct procedures for using them to handle fires.

With a deeper understanding of fire prevention and handling, it is hoped that students and teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Batang Toru will be better prepared and vigilant in facing the potential for fires. The Martabe Goes to School program is part of Agincourt Resources’ commitment to supporting the safety and well-being of the community through useful and practical education.
