Adolescence is a pivotal stage of life that shapes the direction of one’s future. Yet, challenges such as early marriage, risky social behaviour, and the misuse of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and addictive substances (NAPZA) remain pressing issues that must be addressed collectively. Therefore, continuous educational efforts are essential to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to plan a healthy and responsible life.
As part of its commitment to youth development, the Generasi Berencana (GENRE) Goes to School programme was held on 18th April 2026 at SMP Negeri 1 Batang Toru. This initiative was a collaboration between Agincourt Resources, the Population Control and Family Planning Agency (PPKB) of South Tapanuli Regency, the GENRE Forum of South Tapanuli, and the Family Planning Field Officers (PLKB) of Batang Toru Subdistrict.

A total of 118 participants attended the event, comprising 100 students, 4 teachers and school leaders, 2 representatives from the PPKB Agency, 7 members of the GENRE Forum, and 5 representatives from Agincourt Resources. All participants actively engaged in a series of activities designed to enhance adolescents’ understanding of planning a healthy and responsible life.
In his opening remarks, Superintendent of Community Services, Yayan Nuryawan stated that this event marked the fourth school visit in the GENRE outreach series. He highlighted the vital role of young people as agents of change who can contribute to health, education, and community empowerment initiatives. He expressed hope that participants would not only understand the material presented but also share positive values with their peers.
The Principal of SMP Negeri 1 Batang Toru also conveyed appreciation for Agincourt Resources’ continued contribution to youth development within the school environment. He encouraged the GENRE Ambassadors to serve as role models who inspire students to plan their futures thoughtfully, avoid risky behaviours, and actively disseminate information on reproductive health and the importance of delaying marriage age. Through this initiative, it is hoped that a collective awareness will grow among young people to make wiser life choices. More than just a socialisation programme, GENRE Goes to School represents a meaningful step in nurturing hope, building character, and preparing a generation that is healthy, knowledgeable, and competitive.
