Agincourt Resources has demonstrated its commitment to improving community health through the free cataract surgery programme, themed Buka Mata, Lihat Indahnya Dunia. The initiative was launched at Batang Toru Community Health Centre on Monday, 29th September 2025.
General Manager Operations Agincourt Resources, Rahmat Lubis explained that the free cataract surgery has been part of the company’s annual programme since 2011. By 2024, the initiative had restored vision for more than 12,000 patients. “This year we are targeting 1,400 eyes to undergo surgery. The operations will not only take place in Batang Toru, but also at Bhayangkara Hospital, Sipirok General Hospital, Pandan General Hospital, Siantar General Hospital, and Mencirim 77 Eye Hospital in Medan,” he said.

The operations are carried out by the medical team from Mencirim 77 Eye Hospital, with support from various stakeholders, including the police. The programme is expected to deliver not only immediate benefits but also help communities to be more productive and prosperous.
Beyond cataract surgeries, Agincourt Resources also consistently runs other social responsibility initiatives, including education, agriculture, support for MSMEs, infrastructure development, and integrated health services. These include the Doctor Goes to Village programme and the provision of specialist doctors at Batang Toru Community Health Centre.

Head of the South Tapanuli Health Office, dr. Sri Khairunnisah expressed appreciation for the company’s contribution. She noted that the programme not only delivers direct benefits for the community but also strengthens primary health services at the local health centre.
This 11th free cataract surgery programme stands as further proof of Agincourt Resources’ dedication to improving public health standards in South Tapanuli and North Sumatra.
