Agincourt Resources once again held the “Dari Hati untuk Bumi” Mangrove Planting Action for the second time. This time, the Martabe Gold Mine manager planted 60,000 mangrove seedlings and released 50,000 shellfish fry on 19 hectares of land in Kalangan Village and Sitio-tio Hilir Village, Pandan Subdistrict, Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra.
Planting mangroves around mining locations is a real manifestation of the company’s commitment to preserving the environment and the sustainability of coastal ecosystems. This is also in line with the obligations of mining business permit holders (IUP) in fulfilling the implementation of environmental management aspects of mining, reclamation, and post-mining and post-operation as mandated in the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Number 26 of 2018.
Continuing the partnership with the Kelompok Tani Hutan Mandiri Lestari, the mangrove seedlings prepared this time are local seedlings of the rhizophora sp, Avicennia spp, Nypa fruticans, Bruguiera sp types, ready to be planted at 3 months old in the nursery. Meanwhile, the seeds of the Crustacea group or shellfish group that are spread are of the lokus type and crabs of the mangrove type in a healthy and fresh condition.
Agincourt Resources consistently implements ESG aspects. Throughout 2012 to 2023, the Company has planted 73,815 tree seedlings in reclamation areas and 38,306 seedlings outside the Martabe Gold Mine area. Meanwhile, the reclaimed land area from 2012 to 2023 has reached 47.18 hectares.
As part of the Astra Group, this Mangrove Planting Action aims to support Astra 2030 Sustainability Aspirations, which targets a 30% reduction in Astra Group Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions. This is in line with the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) which contains the state’s commitment to set emission reduction targets in Indonesia, one of which is by building a Mangrove ecosystem.
